My Discovery

I discovered very interesting TV program yesterday. Before finding it, I've heard it from my friend, and it has recently been a popular topic in Japan. It is "Justice with Michael Sandel," in Japanese, "Harvard Heated Classroom."

I've wanted to watch this program, but I didn't know when it was been broadcasted. I found it on NHK yesterday by chance. It was TV pictures in Tokyo University broadcasted before. The topic was about the fair redistribution of wealth. Michael Sandel, who is the most popular teacher in Harvard University, plays a role of a dibate organiser, and many students and working adults express their opinions.

Then, how do you think about this problem (this was one of the topics discussed yesterday)?
"An ordinary teacher can gain $45'000(about 4 million yen) a year. Ichiro can gain $18'000'000(about 1.5 billion yen) a year. Obama, President of the US, can gain $400'000(36 million yen) a year.
Thus, Obama earns about 10 times as much money as an ordinary teacher. Ichiro earns about 42 times as much money as Obama, about 400 times as much money as an ordinary teacher.
Is it the fair redistribution? Should Ichiro be given 42 times as much money as Obama? In other words, what is the justice?
Other problem discussed yesterday was "Can we get the right to enter Tokyo University with money?" Is it good or not?

The answers are different from the situation you stand on. Please think about these problems in some different positions.

My 40 years old

When I was 40 years old, I would work as a certificated weather forecaster or work with the qualification.

At present, I participate in an extension program "Course for certificated weather forecasters" in this university. I have been linterested in meteorology(= weather) when I was a high school student because I like chemistry, phisics, and math, which attracted me about environmental problems and weather.

The qualification is useful not only for daily weather forecast, but for long-term forecast for commerces. For example, fashion companies use long-term weather forecast for when to stock the next season clothes and to discount sold clothes. Food companies use it for when to sell hot or cold foods and drinks.

Moreover, It is advantageous for getting a job. If a student was a certificated weather forecaster, the interviewer would be impressed because there are few people who have the qualification. The examination of certificated weather forecasters is very difficult, and only 5% of the examinees pass at a time.

My Preference

I like playing and watching basketball. Before I belonged to rugby football club in my high school, I was a member of the basketball team.

I have watched NBA(National Basketball Association, professional basketball league in the USA) games for five years and checked the information of NBA in the Internet. Especially, this season off (2010.7-2010.10) has a lot of big, sensational news. One of them is the center of subjects in this season and surprised people all over the world. It is that Lebron James was transferred.

He is one of the star players in NBA. He was called 'King', and he was said the return of Michael Jordan. So, what he was transferred means the structural change of power balance of NBA.

His play is so fantastic, and sometimes unbelievable. He can get points, get rebounds, steal the ball, pass the ball to assist teammates. He can do everything needed to basketball players. Moreover, his big plays in clutch time often can beat other teams, and make the impossible possible.

What I Dislike

I have a lot what I dislike. One of them is those who don't follow social rules and manners. For example, those who don't make a line to get on trains, who don't throw away trashes to trash boxes, and who smoke in walking.
I can never forgive these people. If someone break a rule, other people start to think they may follow the habit, and some of them actually do that. It means breaking the rule becomes the common sense and new social rule. This tendency would make the world worse, but it is unstoppable by oneself. So the awareness that everyone has gets better is the best method.

Good Friends

They are my good friends. This picture was taken when I was a twelfth grade(3rd grade high school) student. I belonged to rugby football club, and they were the teammates. I practiced with them every day. We lauhged together, also cried together. We encouraged each other to overcome hard trainings, shared the happines of winning and the sadness of losing. Many things we experienced. Because of them, we can call each other good friends, or brothers.

Good friendship will remain for life. We don't forget our memories, and we always help each other whenever we are faced to big problems. I believe this is the definition of good friends. Nothing can break down our relationship.

A Special Day

My special day is also the day I cried most with tears. It was the day I retired my high school rugby football club.

It was a little cold, rainy day at the end of October. Our team was faced to the greatest challenge. We had to play a match against the strongest team (in fact, the high school team finally won the High School Rugby Football Championship).

Ten minutes before the match started, we formed a circle to encourage each other and talked to try to do the best performance with our efforts for three years. Every teammate was full of tears in their eyes. Some of you might think why we cried before the match, not after the match. One answer is it is the rugby. We can't play such a dangerous sports without being excited and crazy. Another answer is that we were reminded of three years we practiced. The rising of our minds made us cry.

Eventually, we lost the match. The thought which rose up first was "I can't play rugby with these members anymore. I want to play much longer with them!" However, it did never come true, of course. We talked and were deeply thankful to each other crying.

I owe what I am today to the members I spent together even when we were faced to any difficulties.

Problems between Communicatin and Technology

It may be true that the tendency which encourages people not to communicate with each other face to face because of the developed technological devices, but, I believe, the progress of technology doesn't have a responsibility for the less communication problems.

Indeed, technology makes us possible to telecommunicate, using devices such as phones, e-mails. Especially, it is very convenient for us to e-mail because there is no limit of time, and we don't have to response at once. In other words, we can have enough time to think about what we should say. We don't have to speak in our own voice, either. Thus, some people insist that it brings about problems of communication and make people's life unhappy.

However, I object against the thought for two reasons. First reason is that only a small number of people accept the negative influence, but most people don't. In my surroundings, No one is unsocial and difficult to communicate with. I hardly see people who is closed to other people. The another one is technology can proceed to communicate and associate with people. For instance, recent TV or portable games can connected to computers, and enjoy on-line services. This on-line technology enables game players to play games cooperatively with other players all over the world by using headset(for speaking and listening). Moreover, the players sometimes hold events and gather at a certain place to play the game and get along with them.

Therefore, if we use the positive effects of tecnology and do not accept the bad ones, we can enjoy everyday life happily.

Globarization and My Future

At present, English is more and more important as a tool of communication. Some international companies in Japan started to use English there as a public language. I think the tendency will remain, and so our English skills for jobs will need in the near future.
Moreover, globalization makes movements of people, money and articles more actively. That's why I didn't choose science courses and did to learn English and International Studies. I had liked science, especially chemistry, as well as English, but I preferred learning English to studying chemistry because I can't imagine I work at a factory or a laboratory, and I' like to communicate with people in English.
With my English skills, my choices could be expanded overseas. It also would enable me to get a job a little (or much) easier.
I should prepare for the future and become a person needed in society.

Events in Summer Vacation

July 21 - 30
I've finished all the tests held in the end of this spring semester and my summer vacation started from July 21st.
At the time, what I did at first is sleeping. I did my best for the tests day after day, and my stamina almost ran out. So there was nothing I felt I needed but having a rest.
At the end of the month, my club mates and I visited my high school for playing rugby with our junior players. Because after a long time I played it and enjoyed talking with my friends and juniors, I realized again I was happy when I was playing rugby.

August 1 - 10
I did a part-time job as a cram school teacher in the morning and evening almost every day. I teach high school students math and English. Some of them have entrance exams this year, so I’m making every possible effort.
At working in the cram school, teachers have to wear a suit and a tie. I had had few shirts and ties, so I went to an outlet mall in Kadoma City to buy them at low prices.
In the mall, there are many kinds of stores and they sell old model productions far less expensive than new models. You can save your money and get good things there.

August 11 – 20
I met my cram school friends who go to universities in local areas (Kanto district and Tyugoku district). They told me interesting differences between Kansai district and other areas in talking, thinking and landscapes. I missed the term we spend together to pass the entrance exams of each university we’d really like to enter.

August 21 – 31
I started going to a driving school in my hometown. At the beginning I was so afraid of driving that I kept being tense. That caused my losing weight. Because of it I felt lucky while I worried about driving.
I also did a part-time job in this term. I taught 4 high school students English and math. It is a little anxious to teach math in spite of a student of school of international studies, but I was able to do it very well. My skills of math I improved hardly last year didn’t yet get rusty.

September 1 – 10
On September 1st my high school held a sports meet. I think the sports meet in Ibaraki high school is one of the best, most attractive sports meet in Japanese high schools. One of the reasons I can say so is it often appears in newspaper. A newspaper wrote it as the best sports meet in Japanese high schools. If you have chance, I recommend you going and seeing it.

September 11 – 19
This summer vacation entered the final term and new semester starts soon. I spent this vacation freely as a reaction of my high school days I’m always restricted by rugby and studying, and it brought about my keeping irregular hours. Therefore I began adjusting lifestyle ready to study in the university.
On September 19th my rugby club juniors in my high school had the first game to win the ticket to take part in the national championship. My club mates and I went to the ground and cheered them. Finally our team won the game in one-sided 106-0. The team has another game in next week and I’m going there.

My Fantastic Experience

Coming soon...(Maybe by this week) (´Д`)

Summer Vacation

I'd like to spend my summer vacation freely.

My school life is almost always boring and tiring to me, so I want to have a rest. I also want to go running and play rugby at my high school not only to teach my juniors how to play, but also train my stamina and toughness.

However, I have something to do in summer vacation.

First, I must get a driver's licence this summer. I am getting it with my friends in a summer camp, but one of my friends' schedule doesn't go well with the camp program. So it is uncertain.
Second, I have to do part-time job in a clam school as a teacher. I teach three children at present, so I have to do it as a summer courses.
Third, I should study English hard every day. I want to mark high score in TOEIC so as to make me stronger when I offer to companies. It is very important to study English hard.

I' like to have a good time, playing rugby, but studying English.

My Good and Bad Points

I think one of my god points is that I am an active and aggressive person.

Even when I am faced to what I do not like, I almost never give it up. Its activeness may come from my belief that I hate to be yielded or beaten down by anything I regard them at first as I can do it . Although sometimes I have to do something very difficult, the more it is difficult, the stronger my determination becomes.

However, it is natural that I have some bad points in my character. One of them is I often estimate people with my prejudice.

I consider friends I make friends with in first meeting as a good, nice, sociable, active, lazy, evil, or unfriendly person as soon as I meet whomever. Because of its bias, I sometimes make mistakes to get along with them. There are often situations I change my view against my preconception to my friends. So I ought not to have these preconceived ideas.

What I'd like to accomplish ...

I'd like to work in overseas in the future.

To do so, I have to study English and Chinese hard because English is spoken all over the world and in these days China is one of the most enormous market in the world.
However, there are a lot of people who can speak English fluently. So I must learn English perfectly and multiply my distinctive skills to beat them down in "The Employment War".

Moreover, I 'd like to make my students pass the exams to enter universities.

I have a part-time job as a teacher in a clam school and have two students of mine are preparing for the entrance examinations. In fact, I couldn't enter the university the most I want to enter, so, instead of me, I'd like to make it possible to pass the exams with my teaching.

What I'd do if I won the lottery

If I won the lottery, I would spend money to travel or study abroad.

I would like to go to the USA or Australia first.
The reason why I want to go to the USA is to play a variety of sports with people living there. In America, many sports are played in various age groups and they are included in people's daily life. In addition, In the USA, It is said that they speak English much faster, especially in Washington D.C. , N.Y. and L.A. , than people do in other countries. Because of this, I will be able to make my English skills better.

Why I want to visit Australia is to meet my friend and his family I stayed with.
When I was high school student, I went to Sydney, Australia as my homestaying. Then I got along with him, his family, and his friends. During my homestay, I was going to play rugby football with him and his friends, but we weren't able to play because of rain. So I'd like to play rugby with them someday.

A city I've visit

Caringbah, located in Sydney, Australia is good city to visit.

First of all, the city has a beautiful nature and filled with trees, which let me feel very comfortable. In addition, there are less heavier traffic, so the air is clean.

Secondly, you can go shopping or go to restaurants easily because the city is located in suberb of Sydney, so you can get on trains or buses without any difficulties. If you don't know much about around Carinbah, you don't have to be confused because people living there are so kind that they tell you how to get to your destination. In addition, they might sometimes speak Japanese a little because some people in Australia learn Japanese as thier second language.

Finally, I have described before, people in Australia are friendly to the Japanese because of thier language education. People living in the central city of Sydney as well as people living in Caringbah are kind enough to help you with whatever you have trouble in. When I visited Sydney, I asked men who looked like bad guys "are there any rugby shop in this shopping center?" However, they told me how to get there very kindly. So I felt that people in Australia would be nice.

Therefore, I believe Sydney, especially Caringbah, is very nice place to visit.

My Life These Days

It has been a month since I entered Kwansei Gakuin University.

I go to school by trains, and it takes one hour and a quarter. So I listen to my favorite music and read books.

At my university, there are a lot of courses I have to learn such as International Relations, International Sociology, Introduction to British and American Literature and so on. These courses usually make me bored. I studied physics, chemistry and mathematics (also studied geography and Japanese) when I was a high school student, so I didn't study history. Therefore I am lacking knowledge of history which is needed to study these courses. I think that's why I am bored in courses.

However, the area I don't know very much have many interests. In other words, the courses are full of mystery I want to learn.

Therefore, I'm going to study hard and active.
